As 2013 dances off into the sunset, let’s relive some of the best Dancing With the Stars routines of the year. This list includes both Season 16 and Season 17, which were won by Kellie Pickler and Amber Riley, respectively, along with the mutual pro partner Derek Hough. All “best” lists are subjective, so after checking out these picks, share your own five choices in the comments!

Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy, Season 16 Hip Hop

We've had a few routines this year where the celeb was actually more knowledgeable about the style than the pro. When that happens, DWTS edges a step closer to So You Think You Can Dance. No complaints! This "Fine China" routine from the Season 16 Semifinals showed off Zendaya's Hip Hop skills, but also proved that Val — the trained ballroom pro — could keep up with his swagalicious partner. Team Valdaya was just the coolest.

Kellie & Derek, Season 16 Freestyle

Kellie and Derek were such a bubbly, happy-go-lucky pair throughout the spring season, so it was a little surprising to see them go with such a spare, emotional Freestyle. And yet, it was perfect. It showed off her gorgeous dance lines and their deep connection, but kept things simple. Derek was smart to strip things down instead of going for a big bells and whistles "Supersized" routine. The song, "Beneath Your Beautiful," gives us chills every time, and their stunning dance just elevates it further. Breathtaking.

Team Foxing Awesome, Season 17

The fox can speak for itself, but we're saying this team dance was truly Foxing Awesome. There were two great team dances in Season 17, but unfortunately for Team Spooky Bom Bom the fox dance was just ridiculously good. That insane earworm song — "What Does the Fox Say?" — could've easily led to madness ... and it did, but it was a controlled chaos. You can watch this one over and over and somehow it just doesn't get old.

Corbin Bleu & Karina Smirnoff & Witney Carson, Season 17 Trio Jazz

Here's another one where you could play "spot the pro" and probably start with the guy whose day job is actually acting. Corbin helped choreograph this Trio Jazz, even giving tips to his pro partner Karina. The result was epic. Granted, it didn't do him any favors when it comes to convincing people he wasn't already a pro dancer before showing up, but who cares. It lives on as one of the best DWTS routines of the year.

Amber & Derek, Season 17 Freestyle

You have to love that moment in Season 17, Week 3 rehearsals when Amber did a little clap routine and Derek saved the moment in his brain as future inspiration. He brought it back for the Freestyle, showing off Amber's step team experience from high school. Once again, it was something the celeb knew more about than the pro. This is apparently a good thing, since it resulted in a showstopping country western routine that expertly showed off everything Amber excels at — including stealing the spotlight from all the boys!
