Five-time Dancing With the Stars champ Derek Hough decided to come back after all! Maybe he was enticed by the exciting opportunity to dance with Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy on Season 18.

Amy and Derek were revealed as the final pair in the 12-couple cast, and for once Derek may actually have a dance challenge ahead of him, since Amy is a double-amputee.

Amy’s story is pretty amazing. She’s now 34, but at age 19 she was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. According to the Tahoe Daily Tribune, she was in a coma for almost three weeks and nearly died. Doctors had to remove her spleen and — due to complications limiting circulation in her legs — they also had to amputate both of her legs below the knees. She eventually recovered thanks in part to a kidney transplant from her father. Amy later co-founded Adaptive Action Sports and she's a spokesperson for Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Derek has been with DWTS since Season 5, and he won both seasons of DWTS in 2013. His five wins are three more than any other pro. It wasn't clear if he was going to return for the spring 2014 season, but he's here and he'll at least start dancing with Amy. During the cast announcement March 4 on Good Morning America, Derek revealed one of the twists of the new season — a "switch up" where all the couples switch partners, as assigned by the fans themselves.

Are you excited to see Derek back in action, with Amy and then with whoever, if he's still in the mix at that point?

DWTS Season 18 premieres Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
