Have you seen ABC's promo for Dancing With the Stars Season 18? It doesn't focus much on the cast or natural athlete/pop singer/nostalgia star rivalries — it's all about The Switch-Up twist. So they're banking on some drama coming down the pike when the twist happens. (Cheryl Burke told E! it was happening in Week 3.)

"Nothing can come between Dancing's hot new cast and their partners — except you,” the promo teases. “For the first time, you decide who dances with who. Your vote flips the switch. They partner they know may not be the partner they keep."

We see the couples dancing, and they show different potential partnerships, like Cheryl switching from Drew Carey to James Maslow, and Maksim Chmerkovskiy next to all the female celebs, one after the other. They also show Derek Hough with Meryl Davis, then Danica McKellar, then ... Drew! That would be awesome!

Can we vote for male-male, female-female partnerships like that? It would be great to see Derek and Drew do a Jazz routine or something. It's the kind of thing you could only do for one week, then go back to male/female partnerships for, say, a Rumba, Tango or Waltz, but so far this is looking like a one-and-done thing. No one has shown any interest in leaving their partner for the long haul.

Are you curious to see The Switch-Up twist in action? Do you think it will be fun, horrible or just anticlimactic, after all this build-up?
