UPDATE 2: The judges announced on GMA that the Week 3 (March 31) guest judge will be GMA anchor Robin Roberts.
UPDATE 1: As Tom Bergeron updated during the Week 2 show, the GMA announcement is about the next guest judge. Julianne Hough is returning in two weeks, and other guest judges will include Ricky Martin and Redfoo from LMFAO, but stay tuned for more details after the GMA announcement. By the way, you can now vote for the Switch Up partnerships, but voting will continue until March 31, with the new couples taking the dance floor on April 7.
Tonight (March 24) is the Week 2 Performance Show, and we’re expecting to get details on The Switch-Up twist, including instructions on how to vote for the new partnerships.
Judge Carrie Ann Inaba previewed more big news in a Saturday, March 22 tweet: “Next week, on Tuesday Catch us on @GMA we've got an important announcement to make!! :) But there will be no sleep on Monday night that's for sure! #DWTS @DancingABC.”
When she says “us,” does she mean DWTS in general or specifically the judges? If it’s related to the judges, she could be talking about the guest judges coming later in the season. Or if it’s a more general DWTS announcement, maybe they’ll use that Good Morning America time to reveal the new Switch Up partnerships. The timing might make sense, if the new couples are dancing together on Week 3, since the couples need to know ASAP who they are dancing with so they can rehearse. If they have viewers vote for the new pairs tonight, they should have all the data by Tuesday morning.
Do you think the important announcement is the reveal of the new partnerships (at least for one week) or do you think something else is coming? We’ll find out soon!
DWTS Season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
