We have a bit of an underdog story brewing on Dancing With the Stars Season 18, Week 7. It’s Latin Night on Monday, April 28, with Ricky Martin in the ballroom as guest judge, and team dances for the final seven couples.
Since there’s an odd number of pairs, the teams won’t have equal numbers, which only adds to the "one of these things is not like the other" feel of the team breakdown.
According to AfterBuzz and @DWTSGossip, Meryl’s team is dancing a Samba to “Livin' La Vida Loca,” and Charlie's team is dancing a Salsa to "La Copa de la Vida." But Danica told On the Red Carpet the team dances were Latin Freestyle, so ... we'll have to see how they turn out!
Here’s the lineup:
Team Meryl — aka "Team Loca"
Team Charlie — aka "Team Vida"
Keep in mind that Derek has a streak with these team dances, and that’s even before you factor in both Chmerkovskiys and Mark, plus the amazing dancing of Meryl, Danica, and Amy. Maybe they can bring out the best in Candace, since it’s in there — we saw it in the premiere! — she just needs confidence to keep that current running. This is obviously a powerhouse group.
Then we have Team Charlie, which only has three couples, and what a wonderfully odd mix. Hopefully they own their status as underdogs and let it fuel their fire to take down the Goliath of the other team. It’s not like they don’t have the talent to back it up — Charlie and James are both amazing, and NeNe just did a Salsa on Week 6, so now she has a chance to do even better. Sharna, Tony and Peta know they have to choreograph an amazing routine to stand out, and we’re rooting for them to kill it out there.
Which team are you most excited to see in action?
DWTS Season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
