How are we already heading into the Dancing With the Stars Season 18 Semifinals? This season has just flown by! In fact, it's time to start looking ahead to the finals — and thinking about which stars should be in the mix for the Mirror Ball.

There are five couples left at this point — and, really, arguments can be made for all of them to stay in the game.

Let's start with the obvious. Despite somehow landing at the bottom of the leaderboard this week, Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are frontrunners. Meryl Davis is inarguably one of the most talented stars in the history of the show, combining impressive technique with artistry and the ability to tell a story that rivals the pros. In fact, the strongest argument against Meryl making it is that, as an ice dancer, she has an unfair advantage.

That argument could also apply to Charlie White, though he hasn't had quite the same meteoric rise as Meryl. Still, Charlie combines talent, a competitive spirit, and an extremely likable personality into one totally adorable package. It's easy to see why most people think he'll be in the finale alongside his Olympic partner. Plus, don't you want to see what kind of Freestyle Sharna Burgess would come up with?

Then there's Amy Purdy, the woman with the inspirational story who also happens to have a whole lot of talent and the powerhouse that is Derek Hough on her side. She seems like another no-brainer, though some fans are sick of seeing Derek make it all the way every season.

But we shouldn't dismiss James Maslow or Candace Cameron Bure, either. Candace has the underdog story going for her. She's not an athlete, and she's not a pop star. When it comes to dance experience, she started out the same as anyone watching at home, and her improvement arc has been impressive. She's arguably what this show was supposed to be about in the first place: True dance newbies going from zero to fab. James has also grown quite a lot as a dancer, and he also has the sex appeal.
