Cheryl Burke is not a big believer in diets, but she does believe in positive self-image. "I just want to wake up in the morning and feel good about myself," she told E! News, "whatever that number is on the scale."
The longtime Dancing With the Stars pro has talked a few times now about the 15 pounds she's lost in the last year. A couple of months ago, during Season 18, she mentioned how she's been circuit training with DWTS alum Leah Remini, and eating mostly "clean" foods, while limiting her portion sizes.
She talked more about her weight loss earlier this week at Maxim's Hot 100 Party. "It's been more of a lifestyle change," Cheryl told E!. "It hasn't been like I'm on a diet. I've tried every diet in the world. For me it's just about feeling healthy. I know I have to break a sweat every single day and that makes me want to take care of my body."
We’re now between seasons of DWTS, and this is the time when pros have said their weight goes up and down. You can eat just about anything you want when you’re exercising non-stop during the season, but when you relax the pace a little bit, your body naturally changes. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. It’s the DWTS pros’ job to be fit — they are athletes, after all — but that doesn’t mean they have to stay a certain weight at all times. Cheryl is right, it’s just about being healthy!
DWTS Season 19 premieres this fall on ABC.
