UPDATE: Breathe easy, fans! Mark Ballas tweeted an update on Tuesday, June 17, sharing some relatively good news: "Know y'all heard about the accident, thanks for all of the love and concern. I'm doin ok. No events will be affected." Good to hear about the events, but great to hear that he's OK. As a dancer and musician, his body is his instrument. Take it easy out there, MB!
Horrible news, Dancing With the Stars fans. Dance pro Mark Ballas was involved in a bad car accident on Monday June 16, according to TMZ, which landed him in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
While making a right turn, eyewitnesses say a speeding car didn’t stop in time and slammed into the back of Mark’s car. After complaining of whiplash and back pain, he was sent to the L.A. hospital for treatment.
Here’s hoping his injuries aren’t too severe, but it sounds likely that this means he’ll miss an upcoming performance. The pro dancer, who is also a singer-songwriter, is reportedly scheduled to perform his music later this week, but doctors have indicated the pain from his injuries will be worse tomorrow than it is today.
Then again, Mark’s played through pain before on Dancing With the Stars, so maybe he’ll power through. Either way, we’re relieved to hear the accident wasn’t more serious.
TMZ sources say Mark’s car has been towed. Meanwhile, the men who were in the vehicle that struck his tried to pin the crash on Mark, but other witnesses at the scene told the cops that the other driver was speeding and is therefore at fault. What a relief! A car accident is bad enough, but this would get especially messy for Mark if he was found to be at fault.
