While Maksim Chmerkovskiy hasn't officially said he's ready to hang up his ballroom shoes as a pro on Dancing With the Stars, the more we hear him talk, the more convinced we are that he's done competing on the show.

Right after his win on Season 18, Maks said he couldn't really see himself doing the show again, though he did hedge his bets a little with "maybe tomorrow something will change and I will say, ‘Let's do this again.’" Still, it definitely sounds like he's leaning toward being done; his most recent interview just confirms that suspicion.

Maks chatted with Social Life magazine (via Us Weekly) about his bond with Season 18 partner Meryl Davis and, as always, he had nothing but glowing praise for the ice dancing champ. But not just that — he also said he wants Meryl to be his last partner.

"I want Meryl to be the last person I dance with," he said. "The last person I got to be passionate with and care so much for."

If Maks really is determined to have Meryl be his final DWTS partner, that means he's done as a pro, unless perhaps she comes back for another All-Stars season.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily mean we'll never see Maks on DWTS again. He was already a guest judge once, and he's said he'd come aboard as a judge full time if asked. Judge Len Goodman did say he might retire from the show, so anything's possible...
