UPDATE: Shortly after Cheryl's Extra interview, ABC announced the DWTS Season 19 premiere date and that the Results Show would be coming back for two weeks!
Cheryl just co-hosted Extra with DWTS Season 3 runner-up Mario Lopez, and during part of their talk (watch the video below) they covered the recent comments Cheryl received on her weight and lips. She made it clear she has not had any work done, she’s just healthy and happy. At the end of Cheryl’s chat with Mario she talked about some potential changes coming in Season 19 — including a possible turn for our beloved Results Show and maybe a part-time judging gig for Len Goodman?
"We might go back to two nights, that's the rumor on the street, for maybe just a few weeks,” Cheryl said. “Or maybe a fourth judge. I know Len Goodman is traveling back and forth, so he's going to miss a few weeks. So, I don't know."
Interesting. On the spring Season 18 finale, Len hinted to maybe not returning to DWTS at all, so it’s hopeful news to hear he might at least come back part-time. It makes sense, since he judges Strictly Come Dancing in London in the fall, too, and that’s a lot of commuting time each week. (Bruno Tonioli does the same commute, but Bruno isn’t 70 yet.) Having a fourth judge would leave room for someone like Maksim Chmerkovskiy, which feels like a real possibility for the fall season. But then would someone replace Len when he's gone, like a guest fourth judge? Maks and Julianne Hough sitting side-by-side, perhaps?
Two nights, though. ABC must have a free hour on Tuesdays if they are really going to give us the Results Show back, for the first time in a full year. That’s huge, if it pans out. We don’t want to get our hopes up too high, since Cheryl said it’s a rumor, but … fingers crossed!
What’s the best rumor in that little scoop from Cheryl — the idea that we might get two nights again, that Len may not leave us completely, or that we might have a fourth judge?
