Today, the Dancing With the Stars Powers That Be announced that Julianne Hough is returning to the show for Season 19 as a permanent fourth judge. This is the biggest change to the judges' table since the show began — but is it a good thing?

We'll weigh the pros and cons of Julianne's new gig — but we want you to let us know what you think, too!

Pros. Julianne brings a lot to the table as a judge. As a professional dancer and a former Dancing With the Stars pro, she'll be able to bring a sophisticated understand of both dance technique in general and the particular challenges of Dancing With the Stars. We saw that during her guest-judging stints over the last two seasons. A couple of controversial comments aside, she actually had a lot of good advice for the stars and pros, and could be a valuable addition to the panel.

Plus, she's just plain popular! She's a likeable personality, and might draw more viewers to the ballroom, which is always a good thing. We've been saying for a while that we want to see some sort of change to the judges' panel; maybe a consistent fourth judge is just what we need.

Con. This should be obvious. Julianne's brother, Derek Hough, is part of the competition this year, as is her former competitive partner/pseudo-brother Mark Ballas. Plus, she's worked with many of the pros as a peer and competitor, and now she is in a position of power over them. We're sure Julianne will do her best not to be biased, but we suspect her close connections to some of the cast will lead to controversy. That could be fun, but it could also just end up being frustrating. We want the show to be about the dancing, not about whether or not one of the judges is unfair.

Are you happy or upset Julianne is a judge? Let us know in the comments below!
