Cue the collective groan!

We knew it was possible. We hoped it wouldn’t happen. And now we’re really worried that Bristol Palin will indeed return to Dancing With the Stars for this fall’s All-Stars season.

Gossip guru Ted Casablanca, formerly of E!, ‏tweeted on July 12, "TV news: @BristolPalin confirmed doing Dancing with the Stars All Stars, say insiders, wow, will life be a Tripp or a Trip for Bristol? ... these insiders do not expect Bristol to win, interestingly."

No, she probably won’t win. Viewers won’t win either. Perhaps advertisers will, if she brings ratings. Then again, her new reality show got bumped out of primetime because ratings were so low.

Bristol took third place back on Season 11, despite pretty low scores and general viewer frustration that she made it so much farther than stronger dancers. But if she does return to the ballroom, maybe her fan base will support her again. It could make things awkward if Kyle Massey also returns from Season 11, since his family is currently suing the producers of Bristol’s new show.

Anyway, let’s hope this Bristol scoop is a false alarm, so that when the *real* — not rumored — cast is announced at some point, we’ll all breathe a sigh of relief and say “At least Bristol isn’t there.”
