The talent level is high on Dancing With the Stars Season 15 All-Stars, but are thing tense backstage? Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with host Brooke Burke-Charvet at the Field Elementary School in Pasadena, introducing the Brita Bottle for Kids, to talk about what’s going on behind the scenes.
Wetpaint Entertainment: Does this season of DWTS feel as intense on your end as it does on mine?
Brooke Burke Charvet: I think even more. I mean when I go home and I watch it on TV, it's a very different experience. I'm also spending a lot of intimate time in the sky box with everybody. I know everyone, and I'm with them before they dance and after. So it's beyond intense. There's just so many emotions, and we can only cram in so much in a live show. It's like a different season.
How is it different from previous seasons from your point of view?
Well, the celebrities are able to do so much more, so the pros are challenging themselves. I think they're also under pressure, the pros are, because some of their partners are champions. So they want to do as well and better than they did the first time around. And the pros never know what you're going to get. You may have a really great personality. Maybe they have an ability. Maybe they don't. Everybody on the show now is phenomenal. So the level of dancing is like a finale every night.
It's also interesting watching the other dancers watch the number. There's this look of awe on their faces, but at the same time, if someone does well it's a bummer.
That's true because you can come out and be amazing, and then someone is amazing right after you. So, what would have won the competition last season now is maybe not even a semifinal level dance.
Do you have any theories about who's going to go the furthest?
I have no idea. I mean no one does. And you wonder can they possibly keep getting better?
Is it terse? I feel like people aren't maybe as happy as they were in seasons past?
I don't think so. I understand what you're saying, it's intense, but I think it's just because the pressure is on. I don't think anyone's taken it casually. I don't think anyone's there for the media opportunity because they've done that already. I think they're all in it to win it which makes a really tense competitive environment.
