Say what you want about their Dancing With the Stars scores, Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman deserve a special award for Bravest Judges.

She’s the only DWTS judge with a Twitter account and instead of retreating to a safe place after Season 13’s heated Broadway Week, Carrie Ann spent a good portion of Monday night and Tuesday morning responding to viewers’ tweets — positive and negative. Head judge Len Goodman also defended his comments in the battle between himself and DWTS pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

“I was a little bit aggrieved at the time, but now I’ve slept on it, and I’m sure Maks has slept on it,” Len told Access Hollywood on Tuesday. “What he’s saying is so untrue. I am the defender of all the pros, I think all those professionals do a fantastic job. [...] What they’ve got to understand is they’re on trial, and we’re the judges. You can’t be a judge at your own trial! [...] I tell the truth, that’s basically what I do, whether they like it or not. I honestly try to be truthful and sometimes the truth hurts.”

Meanwhile, Carrie tweeted some statements right after Monday’s show.

"FYI: Everyone has different abilities on DWTS,” Carrie said. “Every journey is unique to each contestant and everyone's ten looks slightly different. Another FYI: I forgive you because you don't know better- scores are locked in before we speak. So we have scored before any words spoken. […] I pass the paper with the scores. BEFORE we speak."

On Tuesday morning, Carrie Ann posted a big love note to DWTS on her Facebook, with a little implied jab at Maks’ “this is my show” comment:

“Just want to send out RESPECT and LOVE to everyone who works on #DWTS. It's a group effort through and through. I’m sorry for the disrespect all our crew and staff were shown last night. A Television Show is made by not only the people ON CAMERA but the exceptional people who are behind the scenes, making everything just right so that when on camera talent steps on to the stage, it's safe and sound....and just right. Thank you to everyone who works on #DWTS!”

Where do you stand on all of this? Was it just an off week or is there a serious disconnect dividing the ballroom?
