Cheryl Burke Closes One of Her Dance Studios
Alas, the economy has claimed another victim.
Laguna Niguel Patch reports that Cheryl Burke Dance is closing its 3,000-square-foot studio in Laguna Niguel, CA on June 30, reportedly because of an anticipated rent increase of 21 percent.
The studio was founded in 2009 by two-time Dancing With the Stars champion Cheryl Burke as one of three test studios. Patch reports that Cheryl Burke Dance’s San Francisco ballroom closed in 2010 due to high leasing costs and neighborhood changes, but Cheryl’s other studio in Mountain View, CA will not be affected by this closure.
"Our main focus during this difficult transition in Laguna Niguel is the well-being and concerns of local dancers, studio staff, and business partners," said Sherri Burke, Cheryl’s mom and the company’s CEO. "Studio Manager Matthew Brown is making every effort to arrange space in a nearby facility to continue classes and coaching for students and their instructors."
Cheryl is still expected to attend the July 14 Cheryl Burke Dance showcase at Segerstrom High School Theatre in Santa Ana. You can’t keep good dancers down!
