This is what happens when a Hawaiian Punch punches back. For their “Surfin’ Safari” Jive, Rob and Cheryl went loud and proud. Every cheesy tourist in Honolulu must’ve been pleased to see themselves represented. There should’ve been a postcard stand next to the judges’ table.
Cheryl Burke’s book, Dancing Lessons: How I Found Passion and Potential on the Dance Floor and in Life, was released last February but it’s now out in the more wallet-friendly paperback version. The memoir, which features a forward by DWTS host Tom Bergeron, includes Cheryl writing candidly about DWTS alongside the sensitive issue of her childhood molestation by a family friend.
Cheryl talked about DWTS and the book in a new interview with FOX411. FOX noted that the producers pick the DWTS partners. Has she ever walked into the room and thought “Oh no”?
Cheryl diplomatically avoids screaming “Yes, when they paired me with Tom DeLay!” by answering, “At the end of the day I’m not going to win every season. My goal is to try my best. They can’t always give me the young, good looking partners, they really have to make sure they mix it up, otherwise people are going to start thinking, 'Why does Cheryl always get the good partners?' I can’t always have the heartthrob.”
FOX also asked Cheryl about her friend and fellow pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy being “pretty outspoken” last season. “Was it uncomfortable backstage?” She answers diplomatically again, “That’s just who is he. He says what he says and I’m not the one to judge.”
Read the full interview for more from Cheryl, including how she feels about people criticizing her body shape.
