Whew! Rumors keep flying about what Cheryl Burke plans to do after Dancing With the Stars All-Stars Season 15. We know the pro dancer is shopping a new reality TV series and she said she wants to take a break from DWTS. She's also shown interest in going on ABC’s Bachelorette.

A source recently told E! News that Cheryl is indeed taking a season off after All-Stars to "see about other opportunities." This would be her first DWTS break since she debuted on (and won) Season 2.

However, while one source said ABC has asked Cheryl "for years" to do The Bachelorette, another "rock-solid source" tells E! it's "never gonna happen" because she's the one who has been "begging to do the show." Another source said Bachelor producers don't like taking someone from another show because they want their Bachelor/ettes to be "real people."

That last part is a stretch, since they really wanted Melissa Rycroft to be the Bachelorette after Bachelor 13, and she had already been on CMT’s Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. (She elected to go on DWTS Season 8 instead, and now of course she’s competing against Cheryl on All-Stars.) And semi-celebs are “real people” too! Jesse Palmer was an NFL star before he was cast as the Bachelor, and Charlie O'Connell was an actor on the TV show Sliders before handing out roses. Besides, how “real” is a “prince” like Season 9’s Prince Lorenzo Borghese? Not to mention Bachelor and DWTS alum Jake Pavelka, whose acting stage name was Jake Landrum before he entered the ABC fold.

Anyway, not saying Cheryl should definitely get the Bachelorette gig — we haven’t even seen the new ladies of Bachelor 17 in action yet! — but ABC would probably be glad for a TV show crossover.

Catch a new episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars on Monday, November 12 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
