The Dancing With the Stars Season 16 Week 8 performance show (May 6, 2013) took the drama to a whole new level with the first perfect 30 of the season and an intense fight between the judges. Who rocked Trio night, and who flopped under the pressure of doing two dances? Here are Wetpaint Entertainment's picks for best and worst of the night.
Best: Zendaya & Valentin Chmerkovskiy & Gleb Savchenko's Trio Salsa
Zendaya Coleman and Valentin Chmerkovskiy teamed up with Gleb Savchenko for this Trio Salsa, which earned the first perfect 30 of the season. We're with the judges on this one: It was fun, technically strong, and the choreography let Zendaya shine. Great work all around.
Honorable Mention: Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough & Tristan MacManus's Trip Paso Doble
Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough teamed up with Tristan MacManus for their Trio Paso Doble, which means we were automatically inclined to like it. But forget like — we loved this dramatic performance. Len is right that the flashing lights and intense smoke were distracting (and unnecessary, given Kellie's talent), but this was still a show stopper.
Worst: Sean Lowe & Peta ... Times Two
There's no honorable mention for worst this week — both "worst" and "second worst" go to Sean Lowe's sloppy, disappointing dances. Both his Tango and his Trio Jazz (with Sharna Burgess, whose talents were wasted here) earned only 21/30 points, and we don't take any issue with those low scores.
