We've been told to always look on the bright side, so we're sticking to that — even though Monty Python's Eric Idle doesn't seem keen on doing Dancing With the Stars.

The British comedian tweeted today, "I just turned down Dancing With The Stars. When they get to me have they become desperate?" Heck no! Eric is exactly the kind of contestant they should be going after — a funny, likable, genuine "star" who is respected in his field. It's just a shame some of those stars turn down the show.

But maybe Eric will reconsider. Maybe he tweeted about it as a test, to get some feedback. He should do it! We wouldn't expect him to be a great dancer right out of the gate, unlike some of the athletes, pop stars and cheerleaders of past seasons. He is 69, which is on the older side, but not quite as old as, say, 81-year-old William Shatner, who also seems hesitant to do the show. Eric should just show up, have some fun, do his best and give the other Python lads a new reason to crack some jokes at his expense. Do it for them!

What do you think? He could even re-enact the Spamalot routine Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus did on Season 13 — or, preferably, improve it.
