Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas are an obvious power couple on Dancing With the Stars Season 16. Aly is an Olympic gymnast with athleticism and a competitive spirit, and Mark is a creative teacher known for show-stopping routines. Will their combo of strengths pay off? Wetpaint Entertainment and Celebified dropped by a Week 2 rehearsal to see how Mark and Aly are holding up.
The pair will perform a Quickstep tonight, and Aly told us that her greatest challenge there is learning to really feel the music. "Sometimes when I did my floor routine in gymnastics I just went and I didn't think about the music," she explained. "So here it's all about really listening and feeling the music."
Musicality aside, the Mark and Aly have a lot going for them.
"She tries everything and anything I throw at her. She's a perfect student," Mark gushed about his partner. "I'm one of the more out-of-the-box choreographers, so that's good for me. I'm very happy."
As for their biggest competition? It's too early to really say, because we've only seen one dance from each star. "The goal in this competition is who's the best all-arounder," Mark explained.
Aly knows a thing or two about being an all around star — she came thisclose to grabbing the all-around bronze during the 2012 Olympics — so we have a feeling she's going to go far.
