To dance with Lisa Vanderpump is to dance with the Lisa Vanderpump universe, which includes her hubby of 30 years, Ken Todd, tea in the afternoon and lots and lots of pink. Last but not least, it also includes her infamous, tiny-but-always-well-dressed pup, Giggy. And Giggy, as Lisa’s Dancing with the Star 2013 partner Gleb Savchenko has learned, does not like to share his mistress.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with DWTS newcomer Gleb, who filled us in on what it’s like partnering with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills matriarch, what we can expect from them this season and how he feels about Giggy, the other, other man in her life!
Prior to meeting Lisa, had you ever seen or heard of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?
I had watched one or two episodes before, yes, but I didn’t know their names or anything. So when I was told my partner was Lisa, I wasn’t sure which one she was. Once I figured it out, I was really happy. She seemed like the funniest, most intelligent one.
Tell us about your first meeting with Giggy…
Well when I walked in the room, she had him on her lap. He was just lying there and I thought it was a toy. Lisa laughed and told me, "No, no. This is Giggy." I have to say he was a little jealous and protective of Lisa in the beginning, but he and I are good friends now. He comes to the rehearsals every day and when he gets tired, Ken takes him home.
As a pair, what are the biggest strengths you and Lisa have and what are your biggest challenges?
Well, we laugh all the time, which is both our biggest strength and biggest weakness. We joke and we have fun, but at the same time, I have to be strict with her because there’s a lot to teach her. The level of competition is very high and we have to improve every week.
What’s the best and worst thing about working with Lisa?
She’s a very elegant, classy gorgeous woman. She can do nothing but stand on the floor and she looks fantastic. But she has to take her heavy jewelry off. It weighs her down and throws off her balance. Next dance, she promised me she’s going to take it off!
Speaking of taking it off, you and Lisa made a lot of sexually charged jokes on the season premiere. Will you be turning up the heat as the season progresses?
We’re definitely going to get sexier. That’s our thing! That’s also what makes Lisa come to rehearsal. I take my shirt off and she comes. As long as it makes her happy and keeps her showing up, I’ll do it.
