Don’t cry for D.L. Hughley. He’s not exactly crying for himself after being eliminated from Dancing With the Stars Season 16 on the Week 5 Results Show.
After Tuesday’s show, E! News asked if he was relieved to be leaving. "F--k yeah!" he said, then laughed and composed himself. "Sorry but yes, yes I am."
Yeah, he may have made it farther than most comedians in DWTS history, but his journey on the show was far from funny. D.L. got tough criticism from judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, and got so down about it that, at one point, he said the show was becoming horrible for him. Things eventually started to get better — but he never seemed to have as much fun as some of the other celebs, and it definitely seemed to be more work than play.
But as he exited the show, he said the one thing he would miss is his partner. "Cheryl Burke is my little Asian daughter that I've adopted," D.L. told E!. "We've become so close." Who is he rooting to win now? His fellow comedian Andy Dick, of course — "just because I want to say Team Dick on television." (Andy already said Pickler Dick, so it’s not like Team Dick is so shocking.)
Are you happy that D.L. is happy to be leaving? The show is supposed to be fun, so apparently voters made the right decision this week to keep the celebs who really want to be there.
