We’re still not 100 percent sure what’s up with the Dancing With the Stars Season 16 Week 7 immunity dance, but we’ll just let the dancers worry about that for now. It’s Latin Week — so it should be fun and sexy with lots of hip action and probably not much in the way of clothing. Here’s what the seven (can you believe we’re down to seven?) remaining couples shared about the Monday, April 29 Performance Show.
Andy Dick & Sharna Burgess, Rumba
“We have a really great story,” Sharna said on the Week 6 Results Show. “I’m actually recreating one of my favorite dance scenes that has ever been on [film], so it’s going to be a lot of fun. There is going to be a little love and lust I guess you would say.”
After the Results Show, Sharna told On the Red Carpet (OTRC) the dance is inspired by Singin’ in the Rain. “It will of course be my own steps but I’m recreating the scene. I’ve never been able to do this before. I’m excited. I really think Andy can handle it. As far as the immunity dance goes, we’re going to give technique and basics because I want to really focus on our number with Andy, and we’re going to bring back some of our Cha-Cha that we’ve already done, we’re already doing Rumba, and then it’s Jive which I know he’s going to be able to do.”
Ingo Rademacher & Kym Johnson, Rumba
What are they going to bring to Latin Week? "Some major hip action," Kym told OTRC. "So look out ladies!" That sounded like a Rumba hint. Sure enough, Ingo tweeted on April 24, "Big thanks to @Yoloboard & @gardenofliferaw crew for voting party. And @honda for my ride #crosstour Now back to work on the Rumba!"
Zendaya Coleman & Val Chmerkovskiy, Paso Doble
"We're doing the Paso Doble," Val told OTRC. "I'm very excited because I love that dance and I love what she did in the [Week 6 Team Paso] group dance in the very limited time that she had to learn the dance. So I'm very excited to go back and really teach her the fundamentals and invest time into that dance and that characteristic. She's so talented, you know, I'm sure we'll work hard and get a great Latin Night dance." Watch the video to hear why Zendaya thinks Val is a “gummy bear.”
Sean Lowe & Peta Murgatroyd, Rumba
Peta told OTRC Sean has to be a "changed dancer" this week — or they may end up back in the bottom two and possibly going home. She doesn't want to hear "lumberjack" from the judges anymore. "He has to be soft, he has to be lyrical. We have the Rumba. He has to produce character. It's got to be a love story. It's gotta be intense and just amazing to watch." Sean is going to give Peta 100 percent of his focus and attention to zone in and think through his steps, so he can indeed be “soft” and a “changed dancer.” He said being in the bottom two “feels like you’ve been punched in the stomach.” At least he has hard abs!
Aly Raisman & Mark Ballas, Salsa
Is Aly ready to move her hips on Latin Week? "I'm really excited,” Aly told OTRC. “I love it. I love it so much so I can't wait." She's never done Salsa before but she's really excited about it. She always is! "This dance is definitely up her alley when it comes to her personality," Mark said. "This one will be a lot of fun. We have a great song, great theme, so I'm excited."
Kellie Pickler & Derek Hough, Samba
Kellie and Derek didn’t share anything on Week 7 in their OTRC video after Monday’s show, but they talked about totally winging their Team Samba routine, which turned out very well. In terms of Week 7, Kellie tweeted, "Thank y'all so much for voting for Derek and me!!! We're excited to be able to dance another week!! #Samba #DWTS :)" So more Samba!
Jacoby Jones & Karina Smirnoff, Salsa
Jacoby and Karina didn’t share details on their dance to OTRC, but after Monday’s show Karina joked that they wouldn’t waste time working on his feet anymore, since they did that on Week 6 and got their lowest score. In terms of their Latin Week dance, @LaLaLexie22 noted, “Jacoby has salsa. Tony says so on the dwts radio segment ‘Dovalani's Dance Floor Dish.’" So there we go!
