Dancing With the Stars is in its sixteenth season, and in its eight years on air, things have remained relatively the same, save for a few tweaks here and there. However, this season, producers are no-holds-barred with competition changes, including a new performance (Len’s side-by-side challenge), a crazy twist (immunity challenge), and now a four-couple finale!

That’s right, DWTS fans — instead of the typical three couples competing for the Mirror Ball in the finale, there will be four. While it doesn’t seem like one couple could mean a major difference in the competition, we think it does. And frankly? It’s a change for the better, giving an underdog pair one last chance to take home the trophy. Plus, it makes the final week that much more suspenseful and exciting.

This season has been a bit predictable, with the weaker dancers going home in a steady stream throughout the past seven weeks, though now it could be anybody’s game. Yes, middle players Ingo Rademacher and Sean Lowe could land in the Bottom Two after next week’s trio challenge, but one of the top dancers — Kellie Pickler, Zendaya, Jacoby Jones, or Aly Raisman — could have a fall from grace, too.

Honestly, we’ve gone back and forth with who will end up in the top spots. Kellie and Zendaya are kind of a given, and Jacoby and Aly are strong, too. However, with four spots instead of three, Sean or Ingo could sneak in there — and really rile up fans. Either way, we’re in for an exciting next few weeks. Judging by The Voice’s huge success after introducing new rounds of the competition and a four-person finale, DWTS can only go up from here.

Do you think a four-couple finale is a smart idea, or would you rather have a Top 3 per usual? Sound off below!
