It’s like having a great relationship with someone for three intense months, then it ends and you both move on — until you end up working at the same place several years later, but now you’re with other people. You still have to see each other regularly for another three months, but you won’t be together. Sad? Happy? Jealous? Awkward?

That’s kind of the situation with a few Dancing With the Stars couples, including Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke. They won Dancing With the Stars Season 2 back in 2006. It was Cheryl’s first season on the show and they were so successful, their Freestyle was declared the fan favorite routine in DWTS history. They are both back for Season 15 All-Stars, but Drew will dance with Anna Trebunskaya and Cheryl with her Season 3 winner Emmitt Smith.

Drew told The Washington Post not working with Cheryl is “bittersweet.”

“There’s history there,” says Drew, “and we know how to work together and how to dance together but there’s also excitement to do something new. A new partner, a new dynamic, a new style, new choreography, new techniques.” It’s like a whole new relationship.

What do you think about Drew and Anna vs. Drew and Cheryl? Are you rooting for this new team?

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
