Tribal Trio trouble!

You can’t say Shawn Johnson, Derek Hough, and Mark Ballas didn’t create a very wild and memorable Trio Dance on the Dancing With the Stars All-Stars Week 8 Performance Show. Raw, sexy, shirtless and high impact. The judges all agreed it was a powerful dance. But the question at hand: Was it enough of a Samba?

Len Goodman said if he was sitting in the audience he’d be cheering along with the ecstatic crowd, but he’s a judge and he has to judge a Samba. “It was very self-indulgent,” Len said. “There was very little Samba content. It’s a very critical week. Shawn, if you go home tomorrow, don’t blame me. Blame those two.” Wow!

Bruno Tonioli sort of agreed, in a less harsh way. He said even he had to admit that it wasn’t really a Samba, or there was a very little of it, but it didn’t take away from the many things he liked about the routine. Carrie Ann Inaba disagreed with the other judges. “Sometimes you have to take a risk,” she said. “You can’t disagree with the truth!” Len argued back. Carrie Ann said they didn’t have a lot of Samba content, but what they did have was executed with perfection. Len and Carrie Ann stood up and got in each other’s faces about it.

In the end, however, words are nothing without scores. Carrie Ann backed up her love with a 10. Bruno was softer, but still gave it a 9. Len, on the other hand, gave it a 7. A 7! For comparison’s sake, we haven't seen a flat 7 for an individual routine since All-Stars Week 2.

Do you think Len was too harsh or do you agree that there simply wasn’t enough Samba in that Samba?
