When the name Apolo Anton Ohno was announced for Dancing With the Stars Season 15 All-Stars, our eyebrows hit the roof. Now it’s a (highly competitive) party.

The popular Olympian and DWTS Season 4 champion will be an instant frontrunner when Season 15 starts on Monday, September 24. And he almost said no to coming back.

"When they called, I had to think whether I was willing to make a full commitment,” Apolo told ESPN. “I had to think about giving 100 per cent and dedicating all that time. But when I heard the names of some of the other contestants, I realized that I was a great fan of many of them and they are my friends. How could I not? I think it'll be the biggest show they've ever had. It's a wonderful opportunity. I'm excited about being on the show."

He knows it’s going to be a very competitive season, with five other past winners in addition to himself. "Hopefully, I don't fall too many times,” he joked (sort of), adding, “I just need to stay away from the sequins and the rhinestones. I need to stay strong on this one."

If Carson Kressley is voted in, he’ll probably hoard all the sequins and rhinestones anyway. But what about Apolo’s soul patch? Will we see it on the dance floor this fall? "Maybe it'll be a distraction for the others!" he said. Yeah, maybe it’ll be his lucky charm.

Do you think Apolo will place high on All-Stars or will non-winners end up the main finalists? Perhaps it depends on which lady pro he ends up with, since Julianne Hough is probably not coming back.

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
