We consider sexy actor Gilles Marini one of the Dancing With the Stars Season 15 All-Stars frontrunners, but we're a little concerned about how his injuries will affect his dancing.

When we had a chance to chat with Gillies at the Switched at Birth Hyperion book release party, we had to ask him for an update on his health. He opened up about his biggest physical concerns, how he hurt his shoulder during Season 8, and why he's his own worst enemy on DWTS.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Did you injure yourself already?

Gilles Marini: Many times, yeah, but I'm not injured to the point where I have to stop. I was injured and I'm still injured to a point that it bothers me to do moves. And I try to hold the moves as much as possible all the way to show time because I don't want to hear “The End.” It's the Achilles [tendon]. The Achilles is a problem and if it snaps it's over. There's no coming back. So I don't want to snap it. I want to save it. So for that, I had to be just careful with a couple moves.

So that's it. It's your Achilles?

Achilles bothers me, and because we are starting to move, a couple of jive moves and stuff, my groin. My man parts are going to be massaged by my wife, I guess. I'm not hurt at all. I'm saying that to her so that she can massage me around there.

How's your shoulder?

My shoulder's recovered a hundred percent. I'm one of those guys, if I say something, it's because really something happened. When on the show, three years ago, I was like, “I think I have a problem with my shoulder.” It was fractured in four different places and I had four and a half hour surgery.

How do you fracture your shoulder?

You overextend it. So the shoulder separated, and when the shoulder separates, you have some gap in it when you move. So you try to use too much, you’ll tear the cuff. And then it’s torn, and then your AC joint gives out, and your clavicle broke.

You came in second. So now it's Gilles for the win?

You know, Gilles for as long as possible. I am not going to be one of those guys who say, “I'm here to win.” I'm here to really do well. I'm here to inspire people. I'm here to make people feel like, “Thank God, they watch tonight the show because it was a performance that made me feel.” That's what I'm here for.

I was talking to Derek today, and he said it's pretty aggressive. The vibe is different this season.

It's funny he says that because I don't feel that. I think Shawn [Johnson] is very competitive and Apolo [Anton Ohno] is a working machine. So maybe if he hangs out with them all day long, he's going to go “Oh, my God, they want it so bad.” I understand. Imagine you’re an Olympian, what’s next? You’re an Olympian. Next time you're going to do maybe a Pepsi commercial. I have to go back to work as an actor. My life starts here. So it's different. For them, I understand the drive of “I'm only here to take down everyone.” I understand they feel that way. I don't have that in me. What I have in me is like, I want to entertain people. That's what we're here for.

So who is the biggest competition?

Everybody asks me that. You know what? I feel like I'm the worst person to ask because I always feel like I'm my worst competition. I feel like I always do some bad stuff. I always feel I don’t progress. I feel I suck every day. So I'm probably my worst enemy right now. I don't look at the others. Clearly most of the people that dance this season, either they danced their entire life, or after the Dancing with the Stars, they kept dancing. So clearly, I'm going to compete against people that always are going to be better than I am. What I have that maybe they don't, is I will work till I die.

Do you cry yourself to sleep?

I don't sleep. I took medicine last night to sleep for the first time.

You're that amped?

I think about, and I sing the song the entire night. Oh, I don't like that, and I do not sleep. I don't know how I can be awake during the day. I'm just so, I can't sleep.

It's hiatus now. You’re not trying to juggle this and Switched at Birth?

We're going to juggle very soon, and hopefully Angelo is sick for the first two episodes, that way I can finish Dancing with the Stars and come strong to the show. Please, Lizzy Weiss, is he in a coma for two episodes. I really hope she gives me like one or two episodes off before working really hard.

“Thanks for making me a regular. Now, can I get two episodes off, please?”

It would be worth for them more than anything. If my real character, Gilles Marini, is on Dancing with the Stars all the way, it would be incredibly, incredibly help the ratings for the other show. Let me tell you that. Did you see the numbers on the first one? We went up 40 percent. So we all collide. It all makes sense. The longer I'm on the show, the better it is for everyone. So I'm going to dance my ass off.

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
