Can we all agree that we don’t actually need a Dirty Dancing remake? Still, even original “Baby” Jennifer Grey, who won Dancing With the Stars Season 11, won’t put the idea in a corner. She tweeted her blessing for the remake, which will be directed by original choreographer Kenny Ortega.

@JenniferGrey: I love @Kennyortega and trust that he will do something special #DirtyDancingRemake

On that note, DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba is already pushing hard for three-time DWTS champ Derek Hough to play Johnny, the role Patrick Swayze made famous. It makes sense, since Derek not only helped Jennifer win her mirror ball trophy, she teared up over how much Derek reminded her of Patrick.

Carrie Ann even has a good idea for who should fill Jen’s shoes as Baby — even if she doesn’t know Glee star Lea Michele without a little prompting from former DWTS co-host Samantha Harris:

@carrieanninaba: PS - if they do a #dirty dancing remake - THEY BETTER USE DEREK HOUGH @derekhough There's no one better for the role!!! … And the girl from @GLEE for Baby - Leah???I'm blanking on her name... :(

Samantha Harris was quick to jump in, too!

@SamanthaHarris: @MsLeaMichele. She is fabulous. That voice! Miss u.

Carrie Ann then wrote directly to Lea and Derek:

@carrieanninaba: @MsLeaMichele I think she'd be great for the role of baby...with @derekhough.”

The remake news is still new, but already other actors in the mix to play Johnny are Justin Timberlake, Zac Efron, Ryan Gosling, and our very own Derek Hough. Early choices for Baby seem to be Emma Stone, Miley Cyrus and Lea.

Derek’s sister, two-time DWTS winner Julianne Hough, is starring in the upcoming Footloose remake, so why not Dirty Dancing?
