Are we going to see a kinder, gentler Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Dancing With the Stars
All-Stars? Less “Bad Boy of the Ballroom,” more “Sweet Sex on a Stick”?
The timing is good for it, since his Season 13 partner Hope Solo dropped a bomb on his head with her new book, and he's also dancing Season 15: All-Stars with, arguably, his favorite partner ever, Kirstie Alley. Kirstie always supports Maks — and if he's ever going to be in a funny, happy, competitive-but-not-crazy head space, it's probably now.
A (freshly?) clean-shaven Maks talked to Entertainment Tonight about the new season and his plan for Season 15. ET asked if he was going to be able to "be even more brutal" with Kirstie, since they already know each other.
"Here we go again," Maks said. "I'm going to go on the record and say that … you will never see [makes angry face] this type of Maks ever again."
Even toward the judges, ET asked. "Who?" Maks quipped. (Naughty, Maks!)
He compared the returning All-Stars to "kind of like a bunch of sharks you gave a taste of blood to and now they're back for more." He knows the six past winners aren't going to want to give up their titles. "For them, anything short of a win is a failed season."
Maks has famously come close but never won a Mirror Ball trophy. He and Kirstie were "one step short," taking second place on Season 12. "I'm hoping that we're gonna go all the way and I'm hoping to get the trophy,” Maks said. “I'm hoping! It will validate a lot of things for me, personally. And if I am to ever win the show, Season 15 All-Stars would probably be, like, the one I want to win — with Kirstie. With Kirstie."
Are you rooting for Team KStick, or whatever they end up calling themselves?
Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
