Dancing With the Stars pro Louis van Amstel isn’t competing on Season 14 but he’s still watching and judging it in his ABC News blog.

It’s probably easier to be honest about your opinions when you are on the outside, so it’s nice to see him be candid about disagreeing with the judges’ scores. Louis’ assessments differed from the judges’ in several places when it comes to Week 7 (get in line, man!) and it sounds like he would’ve flipped the scores for Maria Menounos and Donald Driver.

Maria and Derek Hough got the first perfect scores of the season for their Paso Doble, but Louis wasn’t that impressed with the routine.

“Sorry judges, I really liked it, but not enough for Katherine [Jenkins] to have to watch her back,” Louis wrote. “Wow, I can't believe the judges comments and scores. I'd say three 8's for difficulty level and maybe two 9's for performance. Not 10's.”

He was more impressed by Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd’s Viennese Waltz. “I'm going to sound stupid saying that I got teary eyed watching this performance, but I did,” Louis wrote. “You can tell how much Donald wants to learn to dance properly, putting his ego totally aside, and I'm so proud of Peta and what she's doing this season. While bringing out the best in Donald, she's blossoming as a woman and as a professional. Three 10's in my book on all accounts and I don't care what the judges say! Underscored!”

At the end of the blog, Louis added “I'm mostly worried for Melissa [Gilbert], but in my opinion I feel the judges over scored Maria to save her.”

Do you think the judges overscored Maria — to save her or not — and underscored Donald? Or is your beef with last night’s Classical Week scores directed elsewhere? Or are you fine with how the scores were placed? Weigh in on our Facebook page.
