So far, Dancing With the Stars fans are used to seeing the boisterous side of Sherri Shepherd. The TV host’s upbeat personality led judge Carrie Ann Inaba to call her the happiest contestant they’ve ever had on the show. But Week 3 is Personal Story Week, where the 11 couples must dance to the theme of "the most memorable year of my life," and Sherri’s Rumba with partner Val Chmerkovskiy is going to tell a story that’s more touching than fun.
As Sherri tweeted on Monday, “Can't sleep...so excited to be dancing the Rumba-the dance of love but in this case- my love for son Jeffrey born at 25 weeks 1lb 10oz.” She further explained, “Jeffrey almost taken off life-support @25 weeks but a miracle @the last min (& shouting from @NiecyNash) saved his life #preemie. … My Rumba is about my struggle w God when I almost lost Jeffrey at 25 weeks- trying 2 understand why & God telling me to trust Him w my son.”
Sherri's son, Jeffrey Charles Jr., was born on April 22, 2005 and you can now see his adorable face cheering for his mom from the DWTS audience. So at least the story has a happy ending!
Catch the next new episode of DWTS tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
