On the Dancing With the Stars Season 14, Week 8: Performance show, the stars are going for double the flavor and double the drama.

It could — and probably will — still be great fun to see the final six couples do two full routines, especially with the new little twist they added, but there will be a double elimination on the Results show. It’s the cloud hanging over everything. And so far no one has said anything about the instant dances returning, even though they have become a Week 8 staple. This time they are doing something new — the “trio” challenge, where each couple gets to pick a pro partner to join them in their dance. Sounds fun!

Maybe Maria Menounos can live out her dream of dancing with Tristan MacManus, without having to dump Derek Hough. So far she hasn’t shared that plan, but we know eliminated pros Val Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff have been tapped for duty and it sounds like pro troupe members Henry Byalikov, Sasha Farber and Emma Slater are going to be part of the trio as well.

Here’s what the couples have told On the Red Carpet or shared in other ways.

Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd, Tango & Jive
"It's going to be very interesting and it's going to be kind of a stressful week, I think,” Peta told OTRC. “We've got two dances and we've got to be able to pull off both of them. We've got another pro, though, to help out so it's going to be good."

They don’t mention which pro they have in this video, but they told Entertainment Tonight, "We have the Tango and the Jive. And the Jive is going to be the one with the extra person. We have Karina as our pro. She's going to be great."

William Levy & Cheryl Burke, Foxtrot & Paso Doble
William and Cheryl didn’t talk to OTRC so they have no video about their next dances. But Cheryl wrote about Week 8 in her OK! Magazine blog

“Next week is two individual dances, so you’ll really see who can handle two dances and who can't,” Cheryl wrote. “We have the foxtrot and the paso doble. I think the paso is going to be one of William’s favorite dances so I think that will be really exciting. And then the foxtrot, I think will be fun, too, so we just have to see what happens and work hard.”

Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas, Viennese Waltz & Cha-Cha?
Katherine and Mark didn’t discuss their actual dances in their OTRC video, but they discussed the stresses of the week.

"Two dances and a double elimination,” Mark said. “There's a Latin round and a ballroom round. There's an extra little twist on the Latin round. So it should be interesting. It's never been done before, so it's very interesting."

Does double the dances and a double elimination mean double the intensity and stress? "I would imagine it is going to be a doubly stressful week," Katherine said. Mark said they've had two dances for the past few weeks. Katherine said they've been team dances, but Mark argued they also practiced for the Dance Duel, in case they ended up there. So, really, they’ve had three dances and this isn’t such a big deal.

"Yeah, but I think more that it's stressful that it's a double elimination," Katherine said. Mark agreed, "Yeah, that is stressful." Mark was a fan of the Dance Duel, but this time there will be no duel to potentially save them if they are in the bottom two.

In terms of their dance styles, @DWTSGossip tweeted Thursday that Kat and Mark would perform a Viennese Waltz and Cha-Cha.

Melissa Gilbert & Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Samba & ??
"Next week one of our dances is a trio and the people who got the lowest score on the leaderboard got to choose first," Melissa told OTRC. "It was a no-brainer for us. It was a no-brainer for a lot of reasons."

Maks added, "Everybody had to choose a third person to dance with the Latin round next week. 'Cause we're doing two — we're doing ballroom and the Latin. Our Latin is Samba and she picked Val. I had nothing to do with this choice."

Yes, Melissa said, adding, "He had nothing to do with it at all. It wasn't because he told me his parents would disown him otherwise or anything like that. Not even a little bit." Maks said maybe his mom would get a little upset if Melissa didn’t pick Val.

"I, once again, get to be the center of the Chmerkovskiy sandwich," Melissa said. "We are the fruit basket," Maks said. "You're like the big pineapple right in the middle.” "And you would be — never mind," Melissa said. "I'm letting it go." Maks' laugh at that is pretty great. It’s also interesting to hear him say he would like to take back all his “mean” moments on DWTS so the show couldn’t use the material to portray him that light and only that light.

Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower, Foxtrot & Paso Doble
"We're doing something next week called the trio," Chelsie said. "Basically we choose one professional dancer that's been eliminated already, or on the troupe, to be in our number with us. And we have the Paso Doble so I'm kind of excited. I think it's going to be fun."

"It's going to be hot," Roshon said. "I'm excited too." Chelsie added that their ballroom dance is the Foxtrot.

Maria Menounos & Derek Hough, Waltz & Samba?
Total mystery! By Thursday afternoon they had not shared a video or a tweet with details on anything. However, @DWTSGossip tweeted that Maria & Derek would be dancing the Waltz and Samba.

Watch the next new episode of DWTS on Monday, May 7 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
