Dancing With the Stars Season 13 champion J.R. Martinez brought America to tears with his moving story of triumph over near fatal injuries sustained in Iraq.  Now the veteran is using his new fame to help others in the same position.

J.R. is the official spokesperson for Operation Finally Home, a non-profit organization that provides mortgage-free homes for wounded veterans. Last week, J.R. made an appearance at a Mohawk Floor retailer convention to announce a partnership between Operation Finally Home and Mohawk. The flooring company is donating floors for all 16 houses being built by Operation Finally Home in 2012.

J.R. shared memories of his own experience to explain how important this project is. "The physical and emotional struggles you experience after an attack in combat seem insurmountable at first," he said. "People helping other people in need — that’s what restores hope and makes this country great. My life would not be what it is today if it weren’t for programs like Operation Finally Home that helped me when I needed it most."

We're going to go get a tissue now.
