Gilles Marini just looks panicked when talking to E! News about Dancing With the Stars  All-Stars Season 15. He knows a lot is expected of him. (Like, this much.) The Season 8 runner-up is indeed feeling the weight of frontrunner expectations, even if he doesn’t get re-paired with Cheryl Burke.

"I'm very scared," Gilles said in an E! video, looking as handsome as ever and still sporting a strong French accent. "Most people assume that because I did really good that I'm a dancer — and I'm just not. It's something I've never done before the show, and not after. A lot more work than the other people I'll have to go through, but I will. I will try to do better than the first time, that's what my goal is. I don't want to see my competition because that would actually freak me out more than anything. I will dance for America and make them smile. That's all I can say."

He got near-perfect scores back in 2009, so the only way he can do better is to get even more perfect scores — and win. He told E! his knees are "done” because he's been taking dance classes to prepare. He's also worried because the show warned him he might not get Cheryl again and that's a big surprise for him. (Don’t tease us, ABC! Reunite the dream team!)

When asked about his biggest All-Stars competitor, he answered everyone, but said he's kind of "star struck" about Olympian Apolo Ohno — not so much for his dancing, but just for who he is as a person. "For me, he's kind of a hero,” Gilles admitted. “He's done a lot of things for the country and he's always been respectful to his image and to the country. I really like the guy."

Gilles is a new American citizen, as of this past June. He said the first time he did DWTS it was for his daughter, Julianna, who was about 3 years old. Now she’s 6, so she should be able to enjoy the show. Unless Daddy gets insulted by the judges or flashes so much skin the live audience gives him the William Levy treatment. Then it could be weird for her.

Are you on Team Gilles or do you (shudder) think he’s overrated?

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
