It’s almost like a jinx to talk about it, but since People magazine brought it up, we’ll just blame them if Petra Nemcova is eliminated next. The mag asked the 5’11” Dancing With the Stars Season 12 dancer if she had broken the show’s supermodel curse.

"What curse?" Petra asked. "I don’t think about that." However, at Week 5 Petra has lasted longer than her fellow very tall models — including Season 1’s Rachel Hunter, Season 4’s Paulina Porizkova, and Season 9’s Kathy Ireland. Some shorter models like co-host and Season 7 winner Brooke Burke and Season 9 fourth-place contestant Joanna Krupa have gone farther than their over 5’10” counterparts.

"Perhaps Dmitry (Chaplin, her pro partner on DWTS) knows how to work with tall people," said Petra.

Or it could just be that Petra is not only a good dancer, she’s a total sweetheart with the cutest lilting Czech accent. She must also have a large fan base to have gone this far. And don’t rule out the idea that fans may be voting specifically for hot Russian Dmitry, since we’ve missed the So You Think You Can Dance veteran in the past two seasons and many fans have admitted to voting for the pro in the pair as much as the celeb.

No matter why Petra & Dmitry are still around, we’re glad to see them!
