Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer aren’t the only ones rooting for former All My Children star and Iraq War hero J.R. Martinez. Despite having millions of fans already, the Dancing With the Stars favorite is sure to garner many more after this week’s issue of People Magazine comes out.

Featured on the cover with the headline, “Triumph Over Tragedy,” the retired war veteran tells the  magazine how he has handled his DWTS fame with similar gusto and fearlessness as his former competitor Chaz. While Chaz hopes to inspire everyone else watching who is confused about being transgendered, J.R. considers his success on the show a demonstration of willpower, and bravery in the face of disaster.

As he says, “When you show people who you really are and you're genuine, you don't have to force positivity...I'm not your typical person walking down the street. I'm cool with being different.” We’re extremely cool with J.R. being exactly who he is, and wouldn’t want him any other way.
