Go, Julianne Hough! The two-time Dancing With the Stars champ keeps on booking cool film roles. Her newest is a second gig from Juno writer Diablo Cody. It’s always a good sign when the boss wants more.
Julianne has already wrapped shooting the lead role in Diablo’s untitled directorial debut, and now Variety says she’s attached to star in the romantic dramedy Time and a Half, which Diablo is writing and Ol Parker (Imagine Me & You) is directing.
According to Variety, Julianne will play “a recent college grad who takes a temp job at a trophy store where she runs into her sister's high school boyfriend with whom she had a one-night stand.” The filmmakers are still casting the role of Julianne’s sister and won’t move forward until they find the right actress to complement her.
They don’t say if the sister is meant to be older or younger. If older, why not try DWTS pro Kym Johnson? If (one year) younger, how about Chelsie Hightower?
In other Julianne news, she’s currently in North Carolina shooting the Nicholas Sparks adaptation Safe Haven. This shoot is supposed to end soon, but it’s not clear if Julianne will go right into filming another movie or if she’ll be able to take time off for DWTS Season 15 All-Stars. Both of her past champions have returned and we already know Helio Castroneves reached out to her to see if she would pick him over Apolo Ohno.
Either way, congrats on the new role, Julianne!
Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
