First of all, happy birthday to Lacey Schwimmer! Today — Tuesday, June 28 — the Dancing With the Stars pro turns a wizened 23 years old. The sassy lass has accomplished a lot in her 2+ decades of life. She's visiting her mom in Arizona today and they are planning to go out gambling, but before that she talked to Cooper in the Morning about her journey from music to dancing.

It turns out, she started life wanting to be a singer, so it makes it extra special for her to release her new single, "Love Soundz." However, her parents wanted her to dance and they were her dance coaches growing up. Lacey's brother, Benji Schwimmer, won So You Think You Can Dance Season 2 before she went on the show herself and took fourth place on Season 3. She went from SYTYCD to DWTS Season 7, where her luck has been off-and-on in terms of celeb partners. For every talented Lance Bass and Kyle Massey, she's had awkward funny guys like Steve-O and "Psycho Mike" Catherwood.

Coop asks what's next for Lacey — is she's going to do a full album tour and the fall season of Dancing With the Stars or what? All of those things, she says, including something new for DWTS Season 13.

"It's my birthday week so I'm spending it here in Arizona, then I go straight home and I film a little something for Dancing With the Stars,” Lacey says. “It's a new thing that they're doing this season, so that's going to be exciting. And then I go straight into more recording and hopefully going across to Europe and doing a tour over there and then hopefully coming back for Dancing With the Stars."

Sounds fun! We definitely hope to see her back in the ballroom when Season 13 starts on Sept. 19. It’s fine when our DWTS pros go off to pursue careers in music (Mark Ballas) or fashion (Cheryl Burke) as long as they come back home to us in the end.
