Now that Dancing With the Stars has been cut from two seasons per year to just one in the spring, insiders close to the show are all abuzz about what other changes could be underway. And one of those insiders is speaking up.

As fans know, popular pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy recently told Wetpaint Entertainment that he thinks producers should recast the three judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, and Bruno Tonioli. Another rumor swirling around indicates that the show might replace the current judges with at least one younger, sexier judge — possibly even with pro Derek Hough.

Now, an insider tells Today.com’s The Clicker that low ratings for Season 15 All-Stars are to blame for all the upcoming changes. “There’s nothing official yet,” they say, “but yeah, there’s a lot of talk about rebooting elements of the show … Some of that is just the normal convos that take place [after the last season] wraps. But there is a sense that something really needs to change, and not just cosmetic changes.”

Then the insider got to the root of the problem: “Ratings slipped [last season] and no one wants to see them slip any more.”

And what better way to garner huge ratings than with a younger, sexier face (and body) in one of the judge’s chairs? Tell us in the comments if you agree that the show needs a metaphorical facelift, or if you like it just the way it is.

Dancing With the Stars Season 16 premieres March 18, 2013 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
