Dancing with the Stars started in the U.K. and there are now versions in more than 30 countries, but Israel is the first to feature a same-sex couple. Gay Israeli TV personality and sports journalist Gili Shem Tov and professional dancer Dorit Milman are dancing together in what Gili calls a "unique" partnership, where they will share the traditional male role of leading.

"I have realized that dance is about coordination and energy between two people, whether female or male," she says. "The challenge to dance with a woman in a public contest interested me because it's unique and has never been done before. Because I share my life with a woman and have a family with her, to me this is the most natural thing to do." The show's producer is "proud" to have a same-sex couple and hopes other versions in the DWTS franchise will follow Israel's lead.

U.S. DWTS Season 10 dancer Pamela Anderson is making two appearances on the Israeli show to guest judge the dances and perform her own routine. Lance Bass, the first openly gay dancer to appear on the U.S. version of DWTS, said in 2008 that he didn't think the ABC show should go same-sex. "I think it would be so silly that it would just overshadow everything else going on," Season 7 dancer Lance told E! "It would just be like making fun of something. But if it was another show with all guys dancing and all girls dancing, that's a different story. I think that's sexy."

What do you think? Would it be silly or sexy or just two people dancing to have a same-sex couple on the American version of DWTS?
