The magazine claims the couple parted ways because of their busy work schedules. A source close to Us Weekly confirmed the breakup news, adding, "It just got to be too much. I think they both just sort of knew they couldn't do it anymore." Julianne most recently starred in Nicholas Sparks' Safe Haven, while Ryan is currently busy hosting FOX's American Idol. However, the former Dancing With the Stars pro and her media mogul beau are on friendly terms.
Julianne, 24, has been open about her relationship with Ryan, 38, and the difficulties of striking the right balance between love and work. "It's a hard thing to do, especially when you're so caught up in your work and bettering yourself," Hough recently told PARADE.
Just last month, Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Julianne at the New York premiere of Safe Haven. She was all smiles when she told us he was supportive of her budding Hollywood film career. "I'm super proud, he's so proud," she said. "It's really fun being like, away and you see him on TV, like last night and you get all giddy. You know, it's really cute."
Ryan recently revealed he started flirting with Julianne back when she was still dating her DWTS Season 8 partner, Chuck Wicks. The persistent TV star even begged former DWTS host Samantha Harris to introduce him to the pretty blond pro. However, Samanth said no — she thought Ryan was too old for the then-19-year-old dancer — but Ryan eventually won his way into Julianne's heart. The two officially started dating in 2010.
