Those of you who didn't rush out to buy Hope Solo's new book, Solo: A Memoir of Hope, may have missed the fact that, in the tome, the soccer star accuses her former Dancing With the Stars Season 13 partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy of treating her poorly, and even slapping her (!). But do those stories have any truth?
A source close to Maks told TMZ that the beloved DWTS pro was shocked to hear about Hope's accusations, which are "completely false."
USA Today quotes some of Hope's book. In it, she says that Maks was "rough and mean" in rehearsal, and claims that once "[Maks] wanted my head in a specific position. To achieve that, he slapped me across the face. Hard."
According to TMZ's source, this incident, and others like it described in the book, did not happen. The source says that Maks is particularly upset about this "false and defamatory statement" because he and Hope have actually had dinner "several times" since the show ended. According to TMZ she even offered him free tickets to a USA soccer match.
It definitely seemed to us that this pair was still friendly, despite the occasional tension during the show. No wonder Maks was so blindsided and hurt by Hope's memoir.
Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
