Everyone keeps referring to Kelly Monaco as the winner of Dancing With the Stars Season 1 but, don't forget, she was just the first winner of the first season, then lost the dance-off.

Way back in 2005, Kelly and Alec Mazo were named the champions over John O'Hurley and Charlotte Jorgensen. After fan outcry, DWTS held a dance-off rematch, which was won by John and Charlotte. It was weird. It's too bad John didn't return for still another dance-off on All-Stars Season 15, but Kelly is back and Access Hollywood talked to her new partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, about the controversy.

Did she get to keep the Mirror Ball trophy? "No," Val said. "She lost it." So she must be dancing for revenge, Access said. "I mean, it inspires me," Val said. "I want to get that trophy back for her, 'cause I don't believe in recounts like that. But, you know, it's a completely different season. Everything's changed, really, I think throughout the show. Her season was a fresh new look, a fresh new concept. She only did, like, 6, 7 dances that season. Now we've got 12 dances in 10 weeks."

(Update: Kelly later clarified that she did win and does still have her trophy. The dance-off was just for charity.)

But she was good then and she seems like she’s good now too. Kit Hoover added that she wants Kelly to win that Mirror Ball again — and she'd love Val to win a trophy before his brother, Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Careful, Kit! Don't come between the brothers. (Unless we want them to do their own dance-off...)

Dancing With the Stars Season 15: All-Stars will premiere on Monday, September 24 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Check out the full All-Stars cast list here.
