Though there is something hot, exotic, and . . . Latin? . . . about Dancing with the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy, he's actually a native of Odessa, Ukraine, which was part of the former Soviet Union. Odessa is a port on the Black Sea, with a population of more than a million. So Val and his brother Maks, also a Dancing with the Stars pro, are hardly small town boys! They've lived in the United States for years now, but they still feel some connection to their homeland. Maks was a contestant on the Ukranian version of The Bachelor — the show did not end in a wedding, btw — and both Maks and Val were contestants on a Ukranian game show called The Cube.
