Quick Facts:
Claim to fame: Being one of only a handful of successful singers to get her own TV show.
Full Name: Brandy Rayana Norwood
Date of Birth: February 11, 1979
Birthplace: McComb, Mississippi
Nationality: American
Height: 5'7"
Occupation: R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, actress
Previous dance experience: One would think that R&B videos required some solid dancing skills, but Brandy claims she’s never really been a good dancer. However, we also know that she went with NBA star Kobe Bryant to his high school prom in 1996, so she clearly has some experience busting a move!

Background:
At only 15-years-old, Brandy released her eponymous debut album in 1994. A series of successful albums followed — “Never Say Never,” “Afrodisiac,” and “Human.”

As if selling 30 million records wasn’t enough, the endearing teen starred in the popular UPN sitcom Moesha from 1996-2001. Other film and TV porjects included the 1997 version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, world-renowned mini-series Double Platinum (co-starring Diana Ross), and the thriller I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

She and her brother, Ray J, currently star in and executive produce the VH1 reality show Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business. Brandy is also recording a studio album that will release in 2011.

Brandy has been a spokesmodel for Cover Girl, Candies Shoes, DKNY, and Sketchers. We’re hoping she wears some of those circa 1997 kicks to the dance-off. She’s an active supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and founded The Norwood Kids Foundation, which promotes music and performing arts in public schools.

She is the mother of one eight-year-old daughter, Sy’rai, with Robert Smith. She reportedly has a tattoo on her back of a cat that used to be the face of her former fiancé, Quentin Richardson of the Miami Heat.

Achievements and Awards:
Brandy is a platinum-selling performer with more than 30 million records sold. Her eponymous debut album sold 6 million copies. The single “The Boy Is Mine” — a duet with Monica — spent 13 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart and she won a Grammy Award for Best R&B performance by a duo or group.
