Maria Menounos Towers Over DWTS Pro Partner Derek Hough as They Practice Their Moves (PHOTOS)

We know that the Dancing With the Stars Powers That Be will normally match up partners based on height, but it looks like Derek Hough’s Season 14 partner Maria Menounos was towering over the pro dancer when they filmed a scene for Extra last week.

Granted, Maria is wearing heels, but the female dancers and stars will usually wear heels while hoofing it in the ball room. Does this mean that Maria will have to wear flats? And, most importantly, will this mean trouble for three-time Mirror Ball champion Derek? Maksim Chmerkovskiy was paired with the tall Hope Solo during Season 13 and the pair was constantly criticized by the judges.

Either way, Derek doesn’t seem to mind his tall partner: he was spotted checking out Maria’s long legs when she flashed her thighs for the cameras.
