Claim to fame: Reality TV star of Jon & Kate Plus 8, and mother of twins and sextuplets
Full Name: Kate Irene Gosselin (née Kreider)
Occupation: Author and mother of eight
Previous dance experience: None. As Kate herself has said, "I want to laugh at myself. I so cannot dance. It would be a sad sight."
Kate Gosselin's life just a got a whole lot busier.
A reality star in her own right, Kate is quite the controversial figure who's best known for raising twins and sextuplets in the spotlight of her hit TLC show, Jon & Kate Plus 8. For five seasons we've watched her rule over the Gosselin clan with an iron fist and a 'do that's been lovingly referred to as the "reverse mullet." She later grabbed headlines with her messy divorce to Jon — a guy who is now best known for his love of Ed Hardy and hanging out with Lindsay Lohan's dad (loser!).
Surprisingly, Kate managed to transition her uber-dramatic reality career into a profitable business. She is a sought-after speaker, author of New York Times bestselling books, Multiple Blessings and Eight Little Faces, and is currently in production on a new show for TLC. Her latest book, I Just Want You To Know, will be in stores this Spring 2010.
Now, we all know that the training for DWTS is a painful, exhausting journey. But after raising eight kids, we think ballroom dancing should be a piece of cake for Kate.
Achievements and Awards:
Has produced eight kids and written three books: Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets (Kate & Jon Gosselin and Beth Carson, 2008), Eight Little Faces (Kate Gosselin, 2009), I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith, and Family (Kate Gosselin, 2010).
