Quick Facts

Age: 36
Dance Style: Latin
Nationality: Australian
Height: 5'7"

Background
Born in Australia on August 4, 1976, Kym Johnson began dancing at age two. She made the leap to ballroom at age 13, when her brother started taking her dance lessons on a bid to meet girls.

After several successful years of competitive ballroom dancing, she retired in 2001.

DWTS Data
Kym began her Dancing With the Stars career in 2004 on the franchise's Australian spin-off, taking part in three seasons and winning one before making the leap to the U.S. version for Season 3. In her 12 seasons on the competition series, she’s taken home two Mirror Ball trophies (with Donny Osmond and Hines Ward) and come in second twice (with Joey Fatone and Warren Sapp).

Beyond DWTS
Kym danced at Elton John's 50th birthday party, appeared in the hit movie Strictly Ballroom, and toured with Burn the Floor. She and Mark Ballas released a DWTS-inspired fitness DVD called Dancing With the Stars: Cardio Dance For Weight Loss in March 2012.

More recently, she hosted a celeb-studded diet and fitness web series, StarFit, for the YouTube channel BeFit.

She’ll compete on The Celebrity Apprentice Australia later in 2013.

Relationships
Kym Johnson was engaged to Australian cricketer Shane Watson for two years, but they broke it off after she got involved with one of her dance partners on the Down Under version of Dancing With the Stars, TV star Tom Williams. Tom ended their relationship soon afterwards.

Kym was linked to fellow DWTS pro Tristan MacManus in late 2011, but their rumored romance never made it out of the speculation zone.

“I’ve never been opposed to dating someone famous,” Kym told Australia’s The Telegraph in June 2012. “But I’ve grown up a lot and I want different things now. I’m looking for a good person I connect with. I can’t imagine myself without kids. I was in a relationship for three years [with Watson] and thought I was going to marry him and have kids — that takes a while to get over. I really want to be a mum. Hopefully I can find the right man.”

  • Former Australian Amateur Ballroom and Latin champion

  • Finalist U.K. Ballroom Championships at Blackpool
