On Tuesday, May 21, Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough won Dancing With the Stars Season 16. However, runners-up Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy nearly had it in the bag. So why didn't the Disney starlet take home the 2013 title? We may never know, but here are three reasons they should have been the pair to give the Mirror Ball a forever home.

And we have a winner! On the Dancing With the Stars Season 16 finale Results Show (May 21, 2013),  Kellie Pickler was crowned queen of the season, and bestowed with the coveted Mirror Ball trophy. What did she have to say about this momentous event?

Well, she didn't as much say anything as — after adorably confirming with partner Derek Hough that she really did win — scream....

Kellie Pickler is taking that Mirror Ball trophy back to Nashville, just like she planned back on Dancing With the Stars Season 16 Week 1!

The American Idol alum won a highly competitive season, and helped Derek Hough win his record fourth trophy. (He should at least get a set of steak knives for that.)
